2016 Ride for Dignity

Join NMSH as we bike along the beautiful TART trail starting in Traverse City and ending at Hop Lot in Sutton’s Bay for food and drinks! Local nonprofit provides homeless housing, support

TRAVERSE CITY — Eight homeless individuals and families soon should have a permanent place to rest their heads at night, thanks in part to local donors’ donations. Credit also is owed to Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing, which recently raised the $100,000 to house them in a four-month initiative spearheaded by former Traverse City Mayor Michael Estes and his wife Rhonda.

NMSH awarded $5,000 from SpartanNash Foundation

“This money will be matched 1:1 by the Grand Traverse Community Foundation, and will be used to support our mission to provide permanent housing paired with supportive services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness either caused or exacerbated by mental illness.”

Our Mission

Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing works to end homelessness by providing permanent supportive housing for individuals and families who struggle with mental illness in the Greater Grand Traverse Region. NMSH pairs affordable rental housing with supportive services to help households overcome barriers related to maintaining and sustaining their housing.

NMSH Serves Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Benzie and Antrim Counties.

Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing works with the Northwest Michigan Continuum of Care to prioritize the most vulnerable individuals and families in the community for entry into NMSH’s program.
